Philip Roth: Abundance and emptiness.

Lil Peep: Quality over quantity. It’s constant, all the time now.

Roth: No one I know of has foreseen an America like the one we live in today.

Lil Peep: The main person would probably be Anthony Kiedis.

Roth: He did it in 33.5 hours in a single-seat, single-engine monoplane, thus making him a kind of 20th-century Leif Ericson, an aeronautical Magellan, one of the earliest beacons of the age of aviation.

Lil Peep: They're just confused by my description.

Roth: They spoke until 3 or 4 in the morning.

Lil Peep: Very true. I don’t like forcing things.

Roth: This led to my tackling some of Lucretius’ long poem, written sometime in the first century B.C.E., in a prose translation by A. E. Stallings.

Lil Peep: It can be intimidating, but you need to just be brave and confident.

Roth: It’s something like playing a game, day in and day out, a high-stakes game that for now, even against the odds, I just keep winning.

Lil Peep: No, I actually hate that. I love Instagram

Roth: I thought of little else until about seven years ago.

Lil Peep: Yeah. Yeah, it’s just content. I don’t mind it.

Roth: I’m very pleased that I’m still alive.
