Anne Pasternak: People today, I think, are struggling with, how do you deal with the fact that some terrifically amazing artists have also said and done some bad things?
Katy Perry: Some people love it, some people are like, “What the fuck?,” and that’s fine.
Pasternak: Doesn’t that seem really bizarre?
Perry: Well, I’m somewhat of an extrovert.
Pasternak: I’m a normal human being.

Perry: I tried to recreate that once with Versace for the MTV Awards, so of course I loved that.
Pasternak: I think it’s much easier for women to understand that.
Perry: [Laughs] We’ll see.
Pasternak: We’re at capacity all day.
Perry: Thierry Mugler, vintage, and vintage Hermès. Issey Miyaki from the ’80s. Christian Lacroix. Louis Verdad.

Pasternak: I don’t really feel pissed. Yes, they’re about mythology. Yes, they’re about fantasy.
Perry: Everything else in the world I can look at a photo of.
Pasternak: I think it’s more complex than that. Not.
Perry: It’s not as obvious, more of a subtle nod to the theme.
Pasternak: But every controversy is a little bit different.
