Jhené Aiko: I think we are supposed to do stuff together, no one is supposed to do anything alone. That’s why we’re here with billions of others.
Mark Fisher: Yes, this is what I’m talking about in this book, and the melancholy is kind of about that.
Aiko: You just have to be around people that actually believe in you like you believe in you.
Fisher: I personally can’t help but be optimistic in lots of ways, but I think we have to avoid eventalism and thinking that sudden ruptures can come from nowhere.
Aiko: A lot of it came from my notebooks.

Fisher: Appropriation is no longer signaled, it’s just assumed I think.
Aiko: But, it does help you with getting deadlines done and just having a structure and learning the history of the craft that you are pursuing.
Fisher: That is the way I’d like to see it.
Aiko: But, then I found myself just taking all English classes and no math to help me transfer.
Fisher: You know, my education didn’t come from school, which I hated, it came from reading NME.

Aiko: I was editing it.
Fisher: Why?
Aiko: I love writing.

Fisher: Quite what form the break will take, and when it’s going to come, I don’t quite know that.
Aiko: It all made sense because this whole process of me creating all of these projects has sort of served as a map for me, to help me find myself, to help me heal and navigate through my suffering and pain, and even love and joy.
