"Legends of Superfriends" is a kind of sad attempt to capitalize on the success of the Batman TV series. Perhaps this was before irony was invented, because the show was intended to promote these superhero characters as media properties. Instead we get an embarassing collection of actors in silly outfits, pretending to laugh at jokes they only understand at all because of their racial context.
'Ghetto Man' Proves Awkardness of 70s Race Relations
Decades ago some inspired entertainment executive dreamed up a live-action roast of popular DC Comics superheroes as a televised one-hour special. In one (of many) bizarre skits, 'Ghetto Man' mocks the Superfriends for their lack of diversity before leaving to deal with a crisis in the projects. And yes, that's Ed McMahon hosting.
