When bloviating was Good (in two parts)
Yes, someone picked a vice presidential candidate. And yes, this is kind of an important political cycle. But the incessant nattering of pundits and "analysts" is enough to drive someone straight into the Nader camp. Not entirely related, but hopefully a respite nonetheless, here's Vladimir Nabokov discuss Lolita, his most famous work, with two other grave, and be-jowled commentators. Watch how he combines patient listening, forecful interruptions and convoluted phrases ("It was fun to breed her in my laboratory") to misdirect his interviewers. (Psst. Someone send this to Tucker Bounds.)
