LOS ANGELES — Phil Spector, the rock music impresario behind hits like “Da Doo Ron Ron,” and “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling,” was convicted Monday of murdering a struggling actress at his mansion in 2003 after a night of drinking. Mr. Spector, 68, faces at least 18 years in prison. The jury, ending a five-month trial, reached its decision after 27 hours of deliberating whether he shot the woman in a fit of anger or, as his lawyers argued, merely witnessed her suicide.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — The king’s crown, scepter, ice cream cart and life-size Lego model of Darth Vader are for sale. Those items, along with the statues of E.T. and the cast-iron gate decorated with the royal coat of arms of Britain, could belong only to Michael Jackson, whose style of self-enshrinement has always mixed the regal and the childlike. They are part of an auction of Jacksoniana so large that it has been installed in a former Robinsons-May department store here.
