Kevin Barnes (of Montreal) Covers David Bowie

Live at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art, part of an on-going David Bowie career retrospective. Below, "Moonage Daydream," from 1972's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Barnes also covered "Hang Onto Yourself" and did a Q&A. Stereogum has more.

  • Oh man, this is a great cover. Kevin Barnes has such a great voice, and he sounds just as good live as he does in his studio bunker(s). There's a video somewhere out there of him totally butchering "I Will" by the Beatles, though.

  • Excellent cover. I'd say that Barnes is even better live than he is in the studio. Some of his songs performed live, like Sunlandic Twins cut "Oslo in the Summertime", are so much better live. Looking forward to the new album/tour.
