Finally, a metal show in Orlando! It has been a dry couple of months in the city.
On
a hot Thursday night at the Haven, black shirts formed a line down the
side of the small club. Everything about the night was diverse, from
the fans to the bands. The emotions ran as high as the temperature, and
I felt not only "friendly violent fun" (ala Exodus) in the air, but
also some violence coming on.
"There were lots of different
kinds of people there. Some diehards and some kids who didn't know what
to do in a mosh pit," said Matthew Petrello of Sanford.
Diverse
could be considered an understatement. The crowd ranged from laid-back
old-school metalheads, to kids in trendy bondage pants with colored
hair, to wannabes (also called bros).
I Came for Dying Fetus, But I Stayed for Nailshitter
An entranced metalhead breaks down a recent Orlando concert, where the "bros" almost ruined it for everybody. Can a single show take place nowadays without this argument being made? Worth reading for the band names alone.
