Senator Nathaniel McFadden heard them at a recent town hall meeting to discuss the Developmental Disabilities Administration community services waiting list. He cried after a dozen families told their personal stories. Dozens more people, many of them adults and children with significant disabilities, filled the cavernous basement of St Michael’s church in Baltimore City on a cold winter evening.
Wiping tears from his face and pausing to catch his breath, the senator said “This, and education, are Maryland’s two worst problems.”
